Duxbury Beach – Enjoy the beach on the South Shore
April-2022 – Around Boston: about 1hr south from Boston
Duxbury Beach is a great beach for walking and bird watching. It’s also well located to visit the South Shore breweries!
Hike description
Duxbury Beach is an easy walk on the beach which can be as long as you want. From one end to the other the beach is about 6miles (9.5km). In our map we show a short version that last about 1:30hr. This is usually a beach which is not too crowded even during the summer (but parking can be difficult). During your walk you will be able to see nice birds (and also nice truck if you go on the parts of the beach that allows cars). The part of the walk that we prefere is certainly the Powder Point bridge which is at the very start.
Hike direction
Direction is easy, we usually find free parking at Powder Point by arriving not too late. We then take the Powder Point Bridge and walk on the beach by going south. Restrooms are available on the parking lot on the other side of Powder Point bridge. (Warning: Powder point Bridge can be closed, as example it was closed during spring 2023 but re opened for the summer. If the bridge is closed you need to come from Gurnet Rd. ).
Activities around
We usually do this hike to arrive at Untold Brewing in Scituate at noon. Second Wind Brewing in Plymouth is also not too far and a nice little brewery to try.
