Plymouth Long Beach – Walk on the South Shore beach
June-2022 – Around Boston: about 1hr south from Boston
Plymouth Long Beach is a great beach if you are in the Plymouth area. Enjoy the sun and visit the south shore breweries!
Hike description
Plymouth Long Beach is an easy walk on the beach and on a rock dike. There is about 6 miles (9.5km) to go from one point to another and back. The walk starts with a small beach, and then it uses a rock dick for 2 to 3km. After that this is sandy area where you can walk in the water or the sand. If you don’t like the rock dick you can also use the gravel road that the cars are using. During the offseason there are only few cars on the gravel road and it can be a good option for a short bike ride. All along the dike, you can see nice houses, some birds, and the ocean. This is perfect during a warm day.
Hike direction
Direction is easy, just follow the beach and the rock dick which goes north. For parking we used the Plymouth Long beach parking which was 20USD in June 2022 (Free during off season). Restrooms were available at Sandy’s. You can use the GPS trace in the map below. (There is a slight inaccuracy on the trace: we never used the road 3A, we just forgot to stop the tracking)
Activities around
We usually do this hike to enjoy a nice beer at Second Wind Brewing in Plymouth. You can also check Untold Brewing in Scituate.
